Boston Celtics-NBA Champions How Sweet It Is..

Thank God it’s finally over. After all the hype of a Celtics vs. Lakers matchup it’s finally over in 6. Congrats to the Big Three, The Boston Three Party, The Parkay Posse, whatever you like to call them. KG, Ray Allen, and Finals MVP Paul Pierce, and the rest of the Celtics deserve this victory.
I’ll be honest I didn’t watch game 6 in it’s entirety. I was actually at a basketball practice myself, and in between breaks I kept up with the score via text message. I didn’t miss much but the usual Kobe surge early in the game, followed by a total meltdown and shutdown in the following 3 quarters of play. This couldn’t be the same Laker team that knocked off the defending champion Spurs in 5. Besides game 3 Boston basically manhandled Kobe and the Lakers the entire series. Kobe Bryant, much to the delight of Celtic fans, didn’t rise to the occasion at all. His teammates settled for pull up jump shots or 3 pointers most of the series and going to the basket seemed like a trip to the dentist for them. You know, something that you have to do, but you don’t really do it in fear you might get hurt. All the hype made for a lack luster sloppy series that had one clear victor in mind. Boston dominated throughout; Ray Allen rediscovered his shooting touch just in time for the Finals, KG remained resilient and dominate on the boards and on the defensive end, and Paul Pierce simply couldn’t be stopped 5 out of 6 games of the Finals. Neither of these teams were a personal favorite of mine but I was thrilled to see KG finally get the monkey off his back. I got goosebumps watching the raw emotion of a man often criticized for not taking the big shots, for deferring to his teammates too often, or not having the ability to win the BIG game. Paul Pierce the longest tenured Celtic also let go a sigh of relief finally achieving his goal of bringing the ’ship home. All and all it was great for the NBA, great for the sport, and great for Boston.
